STEM is an inter-disciplinary professional research group registered as a society under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960. It was established as a not-for-profit organisation on September 1, 1987 at Bangalore.

STEM is fully equipped to provide professional services in the following five core functional areas:

• Development Planning

Over the past 20 years, STEM has carried out nearly 200 Research, Consultancy & Training assignments in a range of disciplines for a large cross-section of clients. In executing such assignments, the Society adopts a symbiotic approach involving extensive in-depth field surveys, analytical processes using state-of-the-art computer technology, participatory management techniques, and so on.
